About Us
In 1903 when the Diocese of Helena encompassed the entire state of Montana, property was obtained in Columbus where a church was to be built and named in honor of St. Christopher. It was not until 1912 that plans were completed for the new church. But the earlier property was sold and a new location was obtained. A different name for the church also was chosen - St. Mary's Church. In 1957 a new St. Mary's Church was built at yet another location in the center of Columbus. It was dedicated on October 5, 1958, by Bishop William J Condon during a visit to administer confirmation.
The parish observed its 50th anniversary with a Solemn High Mass on November 21, 1966. Monsignor John E Regan paid tribute to the "old timers" for their faithfulness to the church and to all the parishioners responsible for the new church.
